Rebuilding a Site With Hindi at the Root

Udakishunganj.com launched as an English-language civic information site for Udakishunganj block in Madhepura district, Bihar, covering the BDO office, ration cards, Anganwadi services, and the panchayat directory.

The problem

Udakishunganj is a near-100%-Hindi-speaking area. An English-default homepage was a trust and usability mismatch with the actual audience, even though the content itself was accurate and useful.

What we changed

We built a full Hindi translation of the site, incorporating the three common local search variants for the place name (उदाकिशुनगंज, किशुनगंज, उदा किशुनगंज) into headings, meta descriptions, and schema.org alternateName data. Then we restructured the URL scheme entirely: Hindi content now lives at the root domain, and English moved to a dedicated /en/ path, with hreflang tags, updated sitemaps, and 301 redirects for every old URL.

The result

The site's default experience now matches how its actual audience speaks and searches, while the English version remains fully available for the minority of visitors who prefer it, with no broken links or lost SEO equity from the restructure.
